Recent Activities
During the past year, the Housing Authority has pursued a number of projects. These have included:
- Painting the Herbert T Clark Congregate Facility common areas, painting the porches and trim at Center Village, replacing all the windows at Center Village.
- The Housing Authority received $351,597 in funding from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development Capital Grant Program for modernization work in Welles Village. The Housing Authority has continued work on enhanced vacancy renovations. Since 2000, the Housing Authority has obtained over $1.4 million in Capital Grants for improvements in Welles Village.
- Continuation and expansion of Welles Activity Council for Youth (W.A.C.Y.) programming, in conjunction with the Town's Department of Youth and Family Services. Including the addition of 4 new computers to the computer center as a result of a grant received from the AT&T Excelerator Program.
